Saturday, October 31 HALLOWEEN, 8PM
This Halloween, the Occasional Symphony plays music to accompany the original silent vampire film, F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. A dark triumph of cinematic German expressionism, Nosferatu remains just as terrifying as it was nearly a century ago. The story retells the story of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Thomas Hutter, an English solicitor and devoted husband, is called away on business to the castle of the mysterious Count Orlock. There, Hutter uncovers a deadly host of secrets, including the truth of an ancient, obsessive force of evil.
The Occasional Symphony will perform music by Mahler, Sibelius, Bartok, and more, including a brand new work written for the show by James Young.
