The Annual St. John's Harambee!

Saturday Mar 29, 6PM @ 2640 (2640 St. Paul St.)

This Saturday, join us at 2640 for the annual Saint John's Harambee, an African-themed fundraising dinner and performance evening to benefit SIDAREC and to help us raise the funds we need to install handicap-accessable bathrooms at Saint John's Church! Harambee is a Swahili term that means “coming together for a common cause”. On Saturday March 29th, St. John’s Church and Friends of SIDAREC will be coming together to host the 3rd Annual Harambee to benefit the citizens who live in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya and St. John’s Church. There will be live music, authentic Kenyan food, and the opportunity to participate in both live and silent auctions. Come prepared to bid on a variety of items and services that have been donated for this cause! In years past, hundreds of people have taken part in this unique and important event, and we hope that the Red Emma's community will turn out en masse to show their support!  More informatio, and a partial list of auction items is available on the Saint John's website.  Tickets are $10 in advance ($12 at the door), and are available for purchase at Red Emma's - if you would like to reserve a ticket, please email info@redemmas.org, and include your name, phone number, and the number of tickets you would like us to hold for you!

Red Emma's is open Monday through Friday from 10AM-10PM, Saturday from 10AM-8PM, and Sunday from 10AM-6PM. Our weekly collective meetings are Sunday at 7PM, and are open to anyone interested in the project, except for the first Sunday of every month, which is closed to everyone except collective members.
Red Emma's is part of IU 660 of the Industrial Workers of the World, one of the only unions to recognize that worker collectives can stand in solidarity with those fighting the bosses as part of one big union.
