Jazz Brunch!!

Sunday Feb 17, 11AM @ 2640 (2640 St. Paul St.)

Thanks everyone who turned out for our last brunch in January, it's wonderful to see so many happy well-fed people!  February's brunch will feature a special menu including some of the cooking team's favorite Southern comfort foods.  It's a vegetarian and vegan-friendly all-you-wanna-eat buffet brunch... it's a jam session open to all musicians... it's a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Not limited to jazz standards, we love to jam out on funk & blues, back up poets and spoken word artists, and showcase all kinds of improvisational music. Join us for our next brunch and bring your friends & family, bring your axe, bring your appetite!

Hope to see you there!

Some tips for folks joining the jam session or open mic...

House mics will be available for singers, speakers and instrumentalists, along with an electric piano for keyboardists.  Our drummer and bassist are happy to share their kit and amp, just bring your sticks or bass!

We have 6th edition real books available in C, E flat, and bass, and a 5th edition in B flat.  If you'd like to play or sing a song in the jam session  that's not in the real book, and you'd like to use our rhythm section, please bring some charts for us- one for the bass player (bass or C), one for the drummer, one for piano (C), and if possible one for the sax (B flat).  We have periodic jam sessions just for performers who want to get together and play before the brunch - for date, time and place info email 2640jazzbrunch@gmail.com

If you'd like to play, perform, speak, or announce on the open mic please add your name and a brief note saying what you'd like to do to the list at the door ( e.g., "play the accordion", "spoken word", "announcement about X") and whether you'd like instrumental accompaniment.
