Sasha and Emma

Thursday Jan 17, 7PM @ Red Emma's

Join us for a very special event exploring the radical life of the person we named our store in honor of!  Karen Avrich will be presenting the book she helped her late father, the noted historian of anarchism Paul Avrich, complete.

Sasha and Emma is a double biography of Emma Goldman and her lifelong companion Alexander "Sasha" Berkman.  Far from just filling in the gaps between Goldman and Berkman's own already essential radical autobiographies (if you haven't read Living My Life and Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist you need to get on that, btw!), Sasha and Emma is an engaging and challenging book that brings to life two of America's most infamous and charismatic rebels.

Our weekly collective meetings are Sunday at 7PM, and are open to anyone interested in the project, except for the first Sunday of every month, which is closed to everyone except collective members.
Red Emma's is part of IU 660 of the Industrial Workers of the World, one of the only unions to recognize that worker collectives can stand in solidarity with those fighting the bosses as part of one big union.
