Seth Tobocman & Friends present Understanding the Crash & You Don't Have to Fuck People Over to Survive

Wednesday Jun 9, 7PM @ 2640 (2640 St. Paul St.)

We welcome underground radical art legend Seth Tobocman back to Baltimore for a presentation of his two most recent books, Understanding the Crash and the 20th anniversary reissue of You Don't Have to Fuck People Over to Survive. If you remember Seth's amazing presentation of Disaster and Resistance at the 2008 Radical Bookfair Pavilion, you'll remember the way he was able to seamlessly blend his graphic art and spoken word political declarations into one incredible, high volume, rhetorical assault, and this event should be no different - Seth'll be joined by musicians Zef Noise, Eric Blitz, and Andy Laties for the evening, as well as Understanding the Crash coauthor Eric Laursen.

Understanding the Crash is an incredible graphic explanation of the current economic crisis and its impact at the neighborhood level on the working class - coauthored with Eric Laursen and Jessica Wehrle, with a forewordby Doug Henwood, this is a vital piece of popular political economy, and the presentation here is probably going to be the most visceral and accessible introduction to the logic of the financial catastrophe you're likely to ever see.

You Don't Have to Fuck People Over to Survive, recently reissued by AK Press, is perhaps the definitive statement of the political aesthetic that emerged in the radical communities of New York's Lower East Side, an indispensible classic in both art and politics.

Event is 100% FREE, donations welcome.
