The Open Hearts Ball!

Please join us for the second annual Open Hearts Ball , to celebrate Heart's Place Shelter and help fund their 2010 season!  Heart's Place, located in the basement of Saint John's Church,  is one of the few area shelters to allow men, women, and children at one facility, so that homeless families can stay together.  Come get down to 1960s funk and soul from The Bellevederes, followed by more funky deep cuts from DJ Jason Willett!  Win raffle prizes including gift certificates to local restaurants, acupuncture, a rock climbing guided tour, and more!  Price of admission includes food from local businesses; beer and wine available for sale.  Tickets are $15 at the door or $12 in advance, available now at missiontix.com (search by event date) and coming soon to the Idle Hour and Red Emma's.  Hope to see you there!

The Bellevederes

1960’s Soul & Funk

Baltimore's finest soul review The Bellevederes bring the 1960s funk and soul! Featuring lesser-known 1960s dance gems from Etta James, Marva Whitney, Eli "The Paperboy" Reed and more, this 9-piece band's killer vocals, three-piece horn section and hella-tight rhythm make it "damn near impossible to stand still" when they take the stage (City Paper, 9/16/2009). Don't miss their first show of the new year! thebellevederes.com

Red Emma's is open Monday through Friday from 10AM-10PM, Saturday from 10AM-8PM, and Sunday from 10AM-6PM. Our weekly collective meetings are Sunday at 7PM, and are open to anyone interested in the project, except for the first Sunday of every month, which is closed to everyone except collective members.
Red Emma's is part of IU 660 of the Industrial Workers of the World, one of the only unions to recognize that worker collectives can stand in solidarity with those fighting the bosses as part of one big union.
